Day 1. San Jose
Arrival and transfer to the deluxe Hotel Real Intercontinental.
Day 2. San Jose - Arenal
After breakfast, a trip to Arenal approximately 3 hours from
San Jose. Here you will have an opportunity to see the majestic
Arenal Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the Americas.
In this area, you will feel the ground tremble and see the
night sky explode with ash and lava in a natural display of
fireworks (if the weather conditions permit). Then, we will
visit the hot springs of the volcano, where you can relax
in the soothing waters. We suggest that you have a fabulous
dinner at the Tabacón Resort (This meal is not included).
This is an evening you will absolutely not want to miss during
your trip to Costa Rica. Overnight at the Tabacón Lodge.
Day 3. Tabacon - Cano Negro Refuge
After breakfast, we will to drive to Los Chiles and begin
a full day exploration by boat of the Caño Negro Refuge,
which boasts a large population of waterfowl, and covers a
part of the vast Nicaraguan Tectonic Depression. The refuge
is composed of 5 habitats: lakeside vegetation, primary swamp
forest, copaid forest, Santa Maria forest and Holillo forest.
Your river adventure includes a 4 hour floating safari through
Tropical Rain Forests and pastures until you arrive at the
marsh. This trip also includes a homemade picnic. In the evening,
return to Tabacón Resort Hot Springs.
Day 4. Carara Biological Reserve
Breakfast at the hotel after which we will travel to the Central Pacific Area, passing near the Carara Biological Reserve. This reserve is teeming with different species of flora and fauna in what must be one of the most fascinating biological reserves in the whole tropical rainforest of Costa Rica. Overnight at Villa Caletas Hotel.
Day 5 - Day 6. Carara Biological Reserve
Free day for optional tours. Overnight at Villa Caletas Hotel.
Day 7. Carara Biological Reserve - San Jose
After breakfast, transfer back to San José, and on to the Hotel Real Intercontinental.
Day 8 - Day 10. San Jose - Islita
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Islita.
Reception and transfer to the Hotel Punta Islita, located
on the northwest coast of the Nicoya Peninsula. Three nights
to relax in luxurious seclusion, the ideal hideaway from the
rest of the world.
The refreshing sea breeze is the perfect appetizer for fresh
seafood, inventive international cuisine or exotic native
dishes, all expertly prepared by the highly-acclaimed chef
at the hotel's thatched, palm roof restaurant.
Lounge in a hammock. Request a massage. Sip a cool cocktail
while relaxing in the ´palapa´bar, which is positioned
on Punta Islita's beach. Or, if you prefer, venture out on
a nature tour, play tennis, go swimming, boating, sports fishing,
mountain biking, snorkeling or horseback riding. Discover
the small towns and the nearby beaches in the hotel's Jeep
Safaris. At peace in this lush paradise, you are free to do
the things you wish to do.
Day 11. Islita - San Jose
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight
to San Jose and onward for your connecting flight home.
